Full Description

Robin is a boy who lives with his family on a farm in the countryside. It’s a mixed farm with fields of crops and lots of animals. He works hard to help around the farm and attends the local school in the market town nearby. One night he sees a shooting star fly across the farmyard and wonders if you could ever catch one. He finds out all he can about shooting stars but cannot devise a plan that would help him catch one . That is until he meets a funny little man at the market who has a stall stacked with old fish boxes. It’s the dream catcher who has come to see Robin to make sure that his important dream does not get forgotten. Robin .gets some super duper rocket tree seeds that are just what you need if you want to catch a star.

Of course these seeds only work if you really believe in them but when they grow they go right into the sky because their leaves love to bathe in stardust.

But catching a star is still not easy and Robin finds his belief and determination are sorely tested until he is in the point of giving up, but the dream catcher gives him some final encouragement and Robin catches his shooting star.
The star stays at the farm and becomes Robins friend. For the months before Christmas it gives wonderful warmth and light but just after Christmas the star disappears.
Robin is heartbroken and cannot understand why his friend has gone. He struggles with his sadness which to begin with is almost too much to bear. But the as time passes he finds the ache in his heart is not so bad and he worries about whether it is right that he should be forgetting hi friend.

Winter has passed and summer is approaching. The swallows, which mark the change of the seasons in the book, return to make their nests in the barns at the farm and the Robin meets the dream catcher again in the market. Robin gets another gift, this time of stardust and some wise advice about remembering those you have loved.

We hope the story suggests that the beginnings and endings we meet in our lives are not the full stops that they might seem.
